Programme

Three classes, one for each age.

Our programme follows the Turkish Ministry of National Education curriculum, shaped for the three hours we share each Sunday.

Three classes run side by side every Sunday. We decide which is right for your child together, at the trial lesson.

Our classes

Three classes by age — each with its own pace, its own joy.

  1. 1

    Class 1

    Ages 5 – 6

A warm beginning for children meeting Turkish for the first time, or hearing only what is spoken at home.

  2. 2

    Class 2

    Ages 7 – 10

For children who already understand Turkish and want to build up their reading, writing and vocabulary.

  3. GCSE Turkish preparation
    3

    Class 3

    Ages 11 +

Text work pitched at secondary-school age, with focused preparation for the GCSE Turkish examination.

What we cover

Every class is built on three threads:

  • Reading, writing and grammar in Turkish
  • Literature: stories, folk tales, poems — our age-appropriate classics
  • Culture and history: our festivals, our folk songs, the story of our nation

Curriculum framework

Our programme follows the framework the T.C. Ministry of National Education prepares for Turkish children abroad, adapted to make sense to a child whose Sundays — and weekdays — happen in England.

For students aged 11 and over, the programme is built directly towards the GCSE Turkish examination. Turkish falls under the foreign-language category in GCSEs, so our students both deepen their mother tongue and aim for strong results in the exam.

We are also building a small lending library of Turkish storybooks for children new to the language; once it’s ready, parents will be welcome to borrow.
